Quora Is Really About A Better Wikipedia, Not... →
Spot on. I couldn’t agree more and frankly surprised why Scoble treats Quora as another FriendFeed or Twitter like platform. From the beginning, I see Quora more as a Wikipedia like than the former; a place where we seek and contribute the best answers for the benefit of knowledge accumulations. Quora isn’t a very good place for blogging. Because other people can edit or remove your stuff....

Robert Scoble takes his Quora and goes home →
chipotle: Robert Scoble, “Why I was wrong about Quora as a blogging service”: I’ve seen a LOT of discussion about Quora in the past few weeks since I wrote it could be the biggest blogging innovation in the past decade. Turns out I was totally wrong. It’s a horrid service for blogging, where you want to put some personality into answers. It’s just fine for a QA site, but we already have lots...

Egypt Leaves the Internet →
In this connected world, cutting off the Internet, is like shutting the country from the rest of the world, and effectively choking its economy and financial markets. What happens when you disconnect a modern economy and 80,000,000 people from the Internet? What will happen tomorrow, on the streets and in the credit markets? This has never happened before, and the unknowns are piling up.

delbius:  →
delbius: Ever wondered how, exactly, phishing works and what happens once an account is phished? While there’s any number of reasons why someone might try to gain access to someone’s email or Facebook account or Twitter account, the most common reason for bulk phishing attempts is simply to make money…

GOP pushing for ISPs to record user data →
The House Republicans’ first major technology initiative is about to be unveiled: a push to force Internet companies to keep track of what their users are doing. Looks like GOP is trying to push for a “Big Brother Initiatives” over the Internet. What we do in the Internet may no longer be private anymore.

Palin, I knew Reagan. You're no Reagan. →
Kudos to that: If you want to be a player, go to school and learn the issues. Put smart people around you and listen to them. If you want to be taken seriously, be serious. You’ve already got your own forum. If you want to be a serious presidential candidate, get to work. If you want to be an imitator of Ronald Reagan, go learn something about him and respect his legacy. If you want to be...

Will Supremes sit out State of the Union? →
On Supreme Court justices’ attendance of the State of the Union last year: Of the five Republican-nominated justices, three attended last year: Roberts, Alito and Anthony Kennedy. The other two, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, skipped the event. Those five formed the majority in the campaign finance ruling, which freed corporations to spend money on political ads. Three of the...

Does Viber collect our address book information? →
Talmon Marco, I run Viber Media Yes, we collect names and phones (We do not collect emails, and any other information not needed to operate the Viber service). If you deactivate your Viber account (or do not use it for 30-45 days) the information is deleted in a few seconds/minutes. It is all kept in volatile memory (“RAM”). No backups are made and we pledge not to use this...
